Very interesting experience. Whenever I visit Lake Fayetteville, I always stick to the trails. Since we were cleaning up in the sensitive Riparian areas, there was plenty of evidence of animals: trees marred by beaver activity, a heavily putrefied beaver carcass, some turtle shells, and even a very large turtle skeleton, much larger than any turtle I've ever seen in the wild. Although I got quite dirty, volunteering here was a new experience.

SUST 1103: Foundations of Sustainability
Spring 2019
Impacts
Very simple job; standing by a roadblock and answering questions for curious people. Other volunteers said they were bored doing the same job, but I had no shortage of folks coming by where I was stationed. At one point we were moving the barricade, and some maniac running the nearby stop sign almost killed us! Thankfully nobody was hurt. That adrenaline rush was enough to get me through the rest of the day. I was glad I could help, in any case. Overall, average volunteer experience.
